Andrew is founder and Managing Director of ESC and has worked within the Asian environmental industry since 1994, gaining extensive experience as an environmental specialist within industry, government and consulting organisations. Andrew’s broad expertise covers, solid waste management, planning and impact assessments, air quality management, due diligence and compliance assessments, where Andrew has advised on EHS risks for the acquisition and divestiture of global businesses.

Geographically Andrew has advised on EHS risks, liabilities and compliance for government and private sector clients in Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia, Vietnam, Philippines, Taiwan, India, China, Australia, New Zealand, UK and Germany. With experience from project inception, development and planning through to operations, Andrew brings a wealth of knowledge and practical insights to all his consulting projects.

Dr Tim Walsh

Dr Walsh, a chemical engineer formerly at BP Chemicals and Environmental Resources Management (ERM), is a director of EnviroSolutions & Consulting (ESC) in Malaysia, Singapore and Indonesia. He has extensive project experience gained whilst stationed at ERM (a global environmental consultancy) offices in London (1989-1991), Hong Kong (1991-1995, rising to Director) and Singapore/Malaysia/Vietnam (as Director – South East Asia 1995-2005).

From January 2005, Dr Walsh has also been retained by United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Indonesia as Environmental/Waste Management Advisor, where he designed, implemented and managed the US$40 million Tsunami Recovery Waste Management Programme (TRWMP) in Aceh. He also completed an environmental damage and loss assessment for the Yogjakarta earthquake of May 2006 for the World Bank and an EHS Audit of the World Food Programme Shipping Service in Aceh.

Nigel Landon

Nigel Landon

Mr. Landon has over 15 years of experience in International Development projects, both as a strategic manager and as a technical specialist. Mr. Landon’s technical expertise focus on water resources planning and management, Irrigation engineering, agricultural planning and development, solid waste management, rural development, institutional capacity building, livelihoods development, and post disaster early recovery planning and management.

Mr. Landon has managed, and been Team Leader on, a number of projects in developing countries, situated in post-disaster and post-conflict environments, including ETESP and NSIASP in Aceh, Indonesia, and the ELWDP Command Area Development Project in Eritrea.

Dr. Karlheinz Spitz

Dr. Karlheinz Spitz, holding dual degrees in civil engineering and business administration, is an environmental consultant of international repute with 20 years of working experience in the Asia Pacific region. His main interest is the environmental assessment of large resource developments focusing on the social, economic, and environmental project performance. Dr. Spitz is lead author of several text books, including the definitive text book ‘Mining and the Environment – From Ore to Metal’.

Dr. Spitz is a Director of ESC Group based in Jakarta. He acts as Lenders consultant to major projects such as Tangguh LNG; leads multidisciplinary teams for ESHIA preparation to IFC, ADB, and Equator Principles standards; and reviews project compliance with Good International Industry Practices.

Zai Abdul Rahman

A trained ecologist, Ms. Zai Abdul Rahman is a highly accomplished environmental consultant, with over 19 years’ experience providing expertise to the oil/gas, petrochemical, infrastructure and other industries throughout Asia and the Middle East. Through her carrier, she has benefited from significant periods working for multinational companies such as ERM and WorleyParsons. Her range of work has included numerous environmental impact studies, site audits, regulatory support, sustainability consulting, environmental management plans, monitoring programs, and many others. Ms. Abdul Rahman is a registered EIA Consultant with the Malaysian Department of Environment as well as the National Resources and Environment Board, Sarawak.

Dr Steve Thomas

Steve has over 20 years of air quality assessments, air emissions inventories, compliance management and permitting, prediction and air dispersion modelling, emissions testing and ambient air monitoring, mobile source studies and auditing experience in Asia, Europe and Australia. He has led numerous investigations requiring the design and management of ambient air quality monitoring studies based upon the results of air dispersion modelling with a complete understanding of the relevant instrument installation requirements and the modelling limitations.

He has led air quality assessments and managed multidisciplinary environmental impact assessments in the industrial, manufacturing, oil and gas, mining, infrastructure (e.g. rail, airports, road and ports), power generation and construction sectors. These studies have involved both government and private enterprise projects, some being highly sensitive from a political or environmental perspective.

Steve has authored and co-authored three book chapters and over 20 internationally peer reviewed journal papers in air quality science.

Sabine Ramaker

Sabine Ramaker is our Senior Risk Consultant specializing in Industrial Safety and the Environment. She is responsible for the execution of complex projects for chemical industries (petrochemical industry, process industry, fine chemicals, and pharmaceutical industry). These projects include the use of computer modelling (TNO Effects/RiskCurves, DNV Phast/PhastRisk, SAFETI-NL, RBMII, Carola). She also provides project management and technical inputs to various multidisciplinary projects.

She has 15 years of professional experience, which have included Quantitative Risk Assessments for chemical industries and transport of dangerous goods via road or rail. She has a wide range of experience in all risk related safety topics, such as impact studies, safety cases, safety management systems, due diligence studies and technical training in various fields of Industrial Safety.

Sabine is also responsible for the development of the Risk business area in Singapore and South East Asia. In this role, she provides high level technical and scientific support for complex risk projects and studies throughout the region.
